Discover how simple strips of paper can become beautiful dimensional embellishments in Paper Quilling Birthday Cards with Sue! In this technique-focused class, you’ll create three cheerful birthday cards while learning the basics of paper quilling.

Sue will guide you through rolling, shaping, and arranging narrow paper strips to create colorful quilled designs. You’ll learn how to turn basic coils into playful birthday elements including balloons, flowers, a birthday cake, and decorative accents, then incorporate your finished quilling into three complete cards.

Whether paper quilling is brand new to you or you’d like a little more practice, this class is a fun introduction to a classic paper-crafting technique with lots of possibilities beyond these projects.

Supplies to Bring

Please bring your basic class kit: craft mat, ruler, favorite adhesives (both wet and dry), scissors, bone folder, paper trimmer, pencil, and tweezers/pick-up tool.

Also bring: quilling tool, circle template board, fine-tip bottle with liquid glue, and a dry adhesive.

You’ll create three colorful birthday cards featuring dimensional paper-quilled embellishments such as balloons, flowers, a birthday cake, and decorative swirls.

What is paper quilling?
Paper quilling is a technique that uses narrow strips of paper that are rolled, shaped, and arranged to create decorative designs.

Is this class suitable for someone new to paper quilling?
Yes. Sue will teach the techniques used to roll and shape the paper pieces and show you how to assemble them into finished designs.

Do I need a quilling tool?
Yes. Please bring a quilling tool along with a circle template board and a fine-tip bottle filled with liquid glue. All items available at Scraps of Love.

Class Registration & Cancellation Policy

Please register for classes at least 48 hours in advance to allow our instructors time to prepare class kits.

Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled class. Cancellations made within this timeframe will receive store credit, and the advance notice gives us an opportunity to contact our waitlist or fill your space.

For cancellations made less than 72 hours before class, you may send someone in your place. When possible, a class kit will be prepared for you to pick up instead. Please note: Technique classes cannot be made into take-home kits.
