Day of the Dead Mixed Media Art Journal with Leslie — $42

Fill your art journal with bold color, layers, and festive folk-art inspiration in this Día de los Muertos Mixed Media Art Journal class with Leslie! You’ll create a vibrant two-page journal spread filled with brilliant oranges, pinks, turquoise, lime green, florals, butterflies, spiderwebs, layered papers, and a fabulous flower-crowned sugar skull. (Papers will vary from this sample.)

Leslie will guide you through building a mixed-media background using paint, patterned papers, stencils, stamping, collage, and mark making, then show you how to layer the larger decorative elements to bring the entire spread together. The finished project is colorful, dimensional, and packed with details to discover.

Supplies to Bring

Please bring your basic class kit: craft mat, ruler, favorite adhesives (both wet and dry), scissors, bone folder, paper trimmer, pencil, and tweezers/pick-up tool.

Also bring: baby wipes, apron, art journal, and paper trimmer.

What will I create in this class?
You’ll create a colorful Día de los Muertos-inspired mixed media spread in your art journal featuring a large flower-crowned sugar skull, florals, butterflies, layered papers, and other decorative details.

What mixed media techniques will we use?
Leslie will guide you through techniques such as painting, collage, layering patterned papers, stenciling, stamping, mark making, and combining dimensional elements.

Do I need to bring an art journal?
Yes. Please bring your own art journal to class along with the supplies listed above.

Do I need previous mixed media experience?
No. Leslie will guide you through building the project layer by layer, so you can enjoy experimenting with mixed media even if you’re relatively new to it.

Class Registration & Cancellation Policy

Please register for classes at least 48 hours in advance to allow our instructors time to prepare class kits.

Cancellations must be made at least 72 hours before the scheduled class. Cancellations made within this timeframe will receive store credit, and the advance notice gives us an opportunity to contact our waitlist or fill your space.

For cancellations made less than 72 hours before class, you may send someone in your place. Mixed Media classes cannot be made into take-home kits, so a kit cannot be provided for this class.
